Board Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Jay Stark, Susan Reddy, Fred Waybrant, Lisa Dwyer, Walt Renn and Della Kozloff
Absent: David King and Jennifer Whitwell

Membership Committee: L Dwyer
There have been 3 new members come on board since the last board meeting. Lisa and her group have been doing a wonderful job at finding and retaining membership and the board appreciates all of their efforts.

2008 Expo Date, Wed. Nov 12th: L Dwyer
There are 23 vendors that took advantage of the early bird special and as of today’s meeting date we have a total of 28 vendors that have signed up to be a part of the expo event. The expo committee has been meeting on a weekly basis and has kept the expenses within budget.
A motion was made by Fred to amend the line item expenditure for the budget for the expo for the expense of a new Expo banner costing $900.00. Jay seconded the motion and all approved.

Updating ByLaws:
Walt Renn was able to get a copy of the last by-laws that were updated on June 2003. At this point any changes that have been placed into the board minutes will be gone through by Jennifer and will be sent out to the chamber board that will then make any additional changes at this time. Once Jennifer has received these changes she will compile all of the data, then we as a board can go through them item by item. After this takes place and is completed then we will be able to get these compiled and voted on by the membership for final approval.

Treasurer's Report: W Renn
A treasurer’s report was submitted and the current balance in the General Chamber account is $6,378.36 and the fireworks fund account has a balance of $2,823.43 that will be used for the 2009 fireworks.
A motion was made by Susan Reddy to sign a contract for the next 4 years which is guaranteeing that we will use the same company that we have been using for our fireworks show which allows us to take advantage of the discount that they are offering for us by doing this. Fred seconded the motion and all were in favor.

CIV, Dec 6th: J Derry
All CIV activities and the day’s events are being scheduled and everything is looking great for this event. Just to remind everyone the event is happening in our downtown area on December 6th. There will be much happening and fun for the whole family, which includes vendors, food, children’s activities, a parade at 3:00pm, a tree lighting ceremony and much more.

Non Profit Mom's Club:
A request was made by a club who was asking to join for $25.00 as honorary members because they are non-profit with tax ID as non-profit as well. The actual dues schedule shows that all non-profits pay is the $25.00 fee but they do not have any type of voting rights as well as no benefits as full paying members receive. Lisa will be calling them and going over these details with this group.

December Meeting:
The December meeting will be taking place on December 2nd, which will be elections for the following years board positions. As this time we have ballots for the following: President –Fred Waybrant, Vice President-David King, Secretary-Della Kozloff, Treasurer-???, Trustees-Jay Stark, Linda Moskal, and Susan Reddy (with Lisa Dywer having 2 years remaining as trustee). If you know of anyone who is interested in running for any positions please contact Jennifer at the chamber phone number.

Additional Topics:
At the beginning of the new year the board would like to see the chamber board members go over all programs that the chamber currently donates money to or has involvement in to review all cost and expenses for future.
Jay Stark presented a motion, which was to give Jennifer Whitwell a pay raise from her current salary of $10.60 per hour to $11.10 per hour starting January 1st 2009. Lisa Dwyer seconded the motion and all were in favor of it.

Meeting adjourned 1:30pm

Respectfully submitted by Della Kozloff
